PlantEdge AI — Multimodal industrial intelligence at the edge

PlantEdge AI is a local-first industrial intelligence solution from Insight Works. It combines the plant automation data you already have with dedicated real-time measurements where they are needed, and helps engineering and maintenance teams see sustained equipment change, with the evidence behind it.

Use the data you already have. Add sensing where it matters. Apply intelligence locally.

  • Read-only by design
  • Runs on site; cloud optional
  • Pilot-stage: inviting pilot sites

Insight Works designs, delivers and supports the control systems, plant data and people that keep process plants running.

The industrial problem

Data exists. Continuous equipment intelligence often does not.

Plants already hold rich equipment data in their PLCs, variable-frequency drives, SCADA systems and historians, protection devices and existing sensors. Those signals are mostly used for control, alarms, operator displays and looking back after something has gone wrong. Spotting slow deterioration still depends on someone reviewing trends by hand.

Where the data already lives

  • PLCs
  • Variable-frequency drives (VFDs)
  • SCADA systems and historians
  • Electrical protection
  • Process instrumentation
  • Existing condition-monitoring sensors
  • Production systems

What it is mostly used for

  • Control
  • Alarms
  • Operator displays
  • Historical review
  • Manual troubleshooting

Control systems run the plant. PlantEdge helps engineers understand equipment condition: an intelligence layer between the measurements you already have and the engineering decisions they should inform.

Why PlantEdge

Use the data you already have. Add sensing where it matters. Apply intelligence locally.

  • 1. Existing data first

Use the automation and instrumentation already installed before adding new hardware. Faster to start, lower entry cost, less disruption, more return on the automation you own.

  • 2. Sensing where justified

Add vibration, temperature, electrical or other measurements only where existing data cannot answer the engineering question, on the assets that matter rather than on every asset.

  • 3. Intelligence at the edge

Core monitoring and analysis stay on site, beside your equipment, without needing continuous cloud connectivity.

Outcome: Engineers see meaningful equipment change earlier, with the evidence behind it, and make better-informed maintenance decisions.

How PlantEdge works

Observe · Understand · Detect · Explain · Review

  1. 1

    Observe

Acquire existing plant data and dedicated measurements; check every value’s timing and quality.

  2. 2

    Understand

Add asset and operating context, such as running state, load and mode, and establish what normal looks like for that asset.

  3. 3

    Detect

Identify sustained change, not a single threshold crossing.

  4. 4

    Explain

Assemble the evidence: trends, context, timestamps and data quality.

  5. 5

    Review

Raise a diagnostic case for engineering judgement.

PlantEdge observes, analyses and advises. Existing plant-control systems retain authority.

PlantEdge pilot

Start with a pilot. Prove the value. Scale.

A first PlantEdge pilot covers one production line or process area and 3–10 representative assets. We start with the data you already have, add sensing only where it is needed, and measure the technical and economic results in your plant before any decision to scale.

PlantEdge AI is in pilot-stage development. Its motor-intelligence MVP has been demonstrated on simulated, replayed and emulated data, and we are inviting pilot sites to validate it on live equipment.

  1. 1Select one production line
  2. 2Choose 3–10 representative assets
  3. 3Assess existing data
  4. 4Add sensing only where needed
  5. 5Deploy PlantEdge locally
  6. 6Measure technical and economic outcomes
